Sayuri is soft spoken and holds her Japanese heritage in high regard. She is all about manners, honor and honesty.
Though she may not be the most talkative person in the room, she is highly intelligent and is extremely observant and perceptive. You may not be watching her but she is definitely watching you.
Sayuri is extremely active. She spends a couple hours every day at the gym and likes to go hiking or for runs in the woods.
Sayuri is also a bit of a diva. She is all about hair, clothing and make up. Do not let this fool you, she can cut loose and have a good time with the best of them.
STRENGTHS:
Communing with Nature: The Nature Spirit briefly becomes one with nature and gain knowledge of the surrounding territory. In the outdoors, the spell gives you knowledge of the land within one mile of you.
Healing: For injured characters within short range, Nature Spirits can focus on them, and a surge of positive energy washes through the creature, causing it to regain half its health. The spell also ends blindness, deafness, and any disease, but at great cost to the Nature Spirit's strength for a short time. This spell has no effect on Vampires, as they are undead.
Glamouring: You surround yourself with an illusion of otherworldly beauty. Any creature that can sees you must succeed on a Intellect roll. The spell ends on a creature if you harm it. A creature that relies on senses other than sight or which can perceive illusions as false, is unaffected to this spell.
Telepathy: Nature Spirits have the ability to telepathically connect with anything that shares an animal form, including Lycans in both forms, as well as other Nature Spirits over long distances, using trees or other plants to reach out.
WEAKNESSES:
Pollution: The introduction of contaminants into the natural environment can cause adverse change for the Nature Spirit. These contaminants may be caused by technological, magical, or divine in nature. It should be noted however, that the components of pollution, can be either foreign substances/energies or naturally occurring contaminants. Regardless, this will prevent a Nature Spirit from effectively communing with nature, and therefore, will suffer physically if too much time is spent in a polluted area.
Communing with Nature: As stated before, while this is a strength, it is also a necessity for Nature Born to bond with their natural elements. Enough time devoid of nature with which to bond, a Nature Spirit will simply wither away and die, disappearing into dust.
BACKSTORY:
Sayuri was not "born" in the traditional sense. She had no parents and even when she tries, she cannot recall when it was that she popped into the world. Anytime she tries to think back that far her mind becomes fuzzy and she becomes disoriented, as if a large part of her memory is missing or forgotten.
She "came to be" in Aokigahara, the Suicide Forest near Mount Fuji, Japan. A place shrouded in mystery, legend and even fear, the locals here called the nature spirits "Yurei". No one knows for sure if these yurei cause the people to commit suicide or if they just happen to live in the cursed place. One thing is for certain though, not all nature spirits are benevolent...
Sayuri, having a high curiosity, began to study and follow the humans living nearby. She would disguise herself and walk among them, watch them with their families, learn their language and mannerisms. She began to mimic them, taking on false names and histories. She spent more and more time in the villages though she always returned home to her forest to "recharge".
After many years of this, she decided to go to Tokyo, as she had heard a great deal about it. She instantly fell in love with the colors and lights, the sounds and people. This was the stimulation she had been missing. She took on a more permanent human guise and dove into the culture head first.
The first years were a difficult time for her. She had no family, no money, no education. She worked in several dead end jobs until she found a restaurant that took her under their wing. She learned to cook and prepare foods and she fell in love with it. The old man that owned the place often told her that a girl as lovely as herself needed to become educated and do more with herself than cook dumplings. So it was with his kind guidance that she enrolled into academy.
Academy opened up a whole other world to the yurei. Her mind, which craved stimulation, was constantly at work soaking up information. She had never felt so alive. After several years in schooling and with top grades in her class she graduated with her degrees. She had chosen Law as her focus, admittedly because forensic science had first caught her eye, but later because she liked the weight of the things she had to remember. She liked politics and she liked rules.
Hearing about a vibrant new place called the United States through schooling, she decided to move there. She received her Licensure in New York where she worked for many years as a lawyer, before she eventually received her Juris Doctorate. She could now act as a Judge.
The hustle and bustle of New York was captivating but the level of pollution was not. she felt sick all of the time, she missed the trees. A news broadcast on the television caught her attention. A place called Wailing Rock where strange things seemed to happen and tourists went missing. Interesting.
Sayuri packed her bags and moved there at once. She had no idea what her future would hold but one thing was for sure, adventure was to be had.
