Grimoire
“The book”

The book itself appears to be worm-riddled and worn. It’s binder seems to be made of leather though heavily faded, it’s front pages torn making a title indiscernible.
The pages of the book are filled with what appears to be an eldritch language, its words foreign to even the most studious scholar. Various horrific drawings and symbols appear to be scattered throughout the book, these appear to be something insidious, black and forbidden.

To those susceptible to the books influence they will recognise that the book shows numerous ‘formulas’ in the way of incantations and rituals which point towards
powers of an unknown influence, these powers include necromancy and perversion of the mind.
Prolonged reading of the book has said to make the reader open to otherworldly influence resulting in hearing foul dissonant whispers and audio-visual hallucinations of an extreme and disturbing nature. The reader may also find their dreams are invaded by nightmarish abominations.
Personality

Viktor has a black reputation, known to have an inclination to violence due to his work as an enforcer in London's criminal underworld ,. He has proven to be both mentally cunning and physically ruthless. His humour is very abrasive and snarky, and he's often belligerent and sharp-tongued. His irascible temperament is imputed to the same mental illness that afflicted his mother.
He believes he can hear an eldritch voice which often impart words of wisdom and perversion in a dead language, and has multiple hallucinations that he can barely fathom, often causing him to become bewildered and unpredictable.
Due to an event he himself barely remembers or rather chooses not to remember he has become hostile. irrevocably changed. He has begun to become unyielding and uncaring to the human race finding it hard to find common ground with others especially those of a more mundane nature. Despite his shortcomings he can also be a man capable of being charitable and friendly with those few who he counts among his allies.

Background
" This ain't for you, to kill a man tied up. It's for work like this, you bring along a man like me."
Viktor was born in Bulgaria though quickly moved to East London before he could barely speak his first words. His father remains unknown though his mother had brought him over to England in hopes that she could provide him with a suitable life. As he grew older his mother grew distant and despondent to his needs, often he would go days without eating and received barely any nurturing.
He would often witness his mother speaking to herself and as she became more feverish she would go through bouts of anger and then complete catatonia for hours at a time. It was not until his 16th birthday did he find her behaviour completely out of the ordinary, so much so that he called the police. She had killed the family dog and wrote on the walls words he would never forget "Kadishtu Shagg" which he later worked out to be an eldritch language that roughly translated to "Understand the Realm of dreams".
Viktor's mother was taken to a mental institution in which he regularly visited but she only ever whispered the same lines as if stuck in a psychosis. Despite his mother’s abrasion towards him in her fits and her general lack of empathy towards her son when she was having an episode Viktor still cared for her up until his 18th birthday wherein she had sliced open her wrists and bled herself out in the mental ward shower.
Angry and alone Viktor took to the streets in search of something to take his frustration out on, what started off as petty fights and squabbles in seedy bars later turned into sport. Viktor became an unlicensed Boxer and found himself winning more fights than he lost, being called “The Bastard” due to the nature in which he fought, leaving most opponents barely breathing.
He later caught the ire of a pub owner in which he worked security, the boxing soon became a hobby as he found his calling at the club known as “Red Rattler”. Red Rattler had a reputation of bringing out the worst in Hoxton. Though Viktor made sure any who made trouble left wishing they hadn’t, this soon became a regular gig until he was welcomed into what would later be known as the inner circle.
The inner circle was London’s seedy underbelly, narcotic distribution and production was paramount to running a good operation, as was having a good enforcer. Viktor had grown cold and anger seemed to boil over into rage during his time as an enforcer. Viktor sorted out problems, whether it was people cheating the lords of the underground or people not paying their dues this meant the occasional broken bone or severed finger at the discretion of his superior, no job was too brutal for Viktor. Though Viktor never enjoyed his work he simply did what any man would with his limited emotional faculties.
As Viktor grew in violence so too did the voices and hallucinations that once afflicted his mother and passed down to him. He became irrational, cold or rather colder and paranoid, swearing he could hear voices and see a figure in his peripheral. He even started to enjoy his work, the voice having an influence on him and his morality.
The figure that once was in his peripheral would set upon his dreams, a grotesquely obese man, lacking a head or neck, with a mouth in the palm of each hand speaking his honey lies of unfathomable power, the same power that he onced offered his mother. He need only speak his name from “The book” and take with it the eldritch knowledge within its pages. So Viktor finally understood what his mother had told him and followed the words spoken in the realm of dreams. He sought out the book, the figure in his dreams had told him to return to Bulgaria and so he did, seeking out his father as the figure instructed. He had found his father’s old estate, dilapidated and abandoned and in amongst the shelves upon shelves of rotting voiumes and formless books he found the ghoulish remains of what he has under his own volition the rotten remains of his father, his face wrenched back in unspeakable horror still holding onto “The book”.
Returning back to London with the book now in hand the dreams taught him how to read it, the unspeakable figure vomiting out its foul language and each syllable, each terrible word became fluent for Viktor till finally he began to understand each verse and each incarnation just as his mother would of done as well as his father.
He tried to get back to work being an enforcer but now that the new mysteries rung in his head such a pursuit seemed mediocre. He cemented his reputation as "The Bastard" as he took more and more pleasure in his work, becoming increasingly unstable and inflicting unnecessary violence to those who were unlucky enough to get in his way. His personality became so darkened that he even stooped to murdering a man his associates had tied previously, only ever meant to scare him. Viktor's motives were questioned and his superiors remained concerned on his increased depravity and Viktor no longer wishing to be anyone’s servant spoke the foul words from the book, the spell known was ‘The putrefying Dissolve’ a forbidden spell that caused his superior the underbelly boss himself to break out into sores that soon began to weep and form rather large abscesses, after a moment the sores would open completely causing blood and liquefied organs to gush out of the orifices as though the person was melting from the inside.
Horrified and completely and utterly mortified by what he had done he vowed never to speak the foul words from the book again, often having nightmares of what he had done but the nightmares only became dappled with the figure who seemed even more horrifying now that Viktor knew the true meaning of its power.
“I am Y’golonac the defiler, the one that waits behind the wall, I am the human condition" a grisly sound erupted from it as it licked its own gruesome bloodied maw "I am perversion and depravity and now I have chosen you” it spoke in its eldritch tongue, its voice gurgling as though choking on its own bile. “You know my name now, whenever you think of me I will be there in front of you, probing you my chosen to see if you are still worthy” its maws drooled a little sinking its obese body forward “and if you aren’t I will devour you entirely, I will suck out the marrow from your bones and wrench the soul from your body till you are nothing but a putrid husk” it almost spat the words “The same fate your parents suffered”
Viktor could do nothing now but to obey, to spread the foul words of the “The book” to appease his new gruesome Master, that or face certain painful and everlasting death. So now that brings his story here to Wailing Rock, whether to spread his Master’s perversion or seek council only time will tell…
Y'golonac (The Defiler)
