I find it amusing that each time Sayuri and Gran meet they are in a place that makes it hard to know that the other is kin.
She "came to be" in Aokigahara, the Suicide Forest near Mount Fuji, Japan. The locals of the area call these unseen beings the Yurei, or spirits. No one knows for sure if these yurei cause the people to commit suicide or if they just happen to live in the cursed place. What they do know is that there is a great deal of strange happenings here and hundreds of years of legend that goes with it. Not all nature spirits are benevolent. Not all nature spirits are happy go lucky...
This is interesting. Is there anything you can share about Sayuri's Nature Spirit, Yurei?
