So, you’re settling in to life in Wailing Rock and something happens to disrupt the peace. This post will help you identify your needs, and appropriate course of action.
IC vs. OOC
In-Character (IC): When you are playing your character and not talking as yourself, the player.
Out-Of-Character (OOC): When you are NOT in RP and goofing off. Mostly done in the group chats, not so much in local chat.
You may have had a negative interaction with another player. First, it’s extremely important to identify the setting: were you IC, or OOC? Are the issues you’re having with another player IC, or OOC?
For example: you’re having lunch at the diner. The waitress is slow to respond, or she’s very rude when she delivers your food. You may not like this, but this is how that person is choosing to play that character. You, also being in-character, have the opportunity to respond in a way that best suits the situation.
These are character issues and not something that should be escalated to Sim Support.
Another scenario: You walk past someone on the street. They send you a private IM, telling you you’re an <expletive> for walking by and you can go to <plane of existence>.
These are player issues and therefore, OOC. If you can’t resolve this directly, you may request assistance from Sim Support.
So, when does it become a Sim Support issue?
Sim Support should be involved when one of the three Golden Rules of Roleplay have been broken:
No Powergaming
No Godmodding
No Metagaming
Please try IMing the person in question first! There’s always a good chance that they misunderstood, will be willing to void a line, etc. If, however, you believe that your issue cannot be resolved this way, contact Sim Support using the Help Desk. If it’s an emergency, please contact Sim Support in Discord.
Sim Support should also be involved when the following issues arise:
Harassment
Doxing
Cheating
We strive to maintain a healthy, productive and enjoyable environment in Wailing Rock for all of our players. We have a zero tolerance policy regarding this type of behavior, so it should be reported as soon as possible. Contact Sim Support using the Help Desk. If it’s an emergency, please contact Sim Support in Discord.
Important Notes:
As these are serious allegations, please understand that you must be able and willing to substantiate your claim. Screenshots of conversations, links to websites, etc. should be submitted at the time the complaint is made. Any unfounded complaints will not be met with any course of action until Sim Support has proper evidence to conduct an investigation.
Furthermore, any attempt to use staff in retaliation against another player with false information will be met with an immediate ban, as well as being reported to Linden Labs.
We take the safety and well-being of our players very seriously!
If you have any questions or concerns, please contact Wailing Rock’s staff. Thank you for your understanding and continued commitment to making Wailing Rock an amazing roleplay destination!
