She was born in Gunnison Natural Forest, in Colorado to a human father and a nature spirit mother. Her father, Jackson Colshaw, was not aware that her mother, Mariana, was a nature spirit, as her mother had kept that part of herself a secret, fearing not only her death, at the hands of the local towns-folk should her secret get out, but her husbands reaction, fearing that the truth would disgust and frighten him.
She managed to keep her pregnancy a secret and upon the girls birth, her mother gave the child to the other nature spirits in the forest to raise, in the ways of her kin, but she visited as often as her human life allowed, despite some of the other nature spirits disapproval of her chosen life.
The girl grew up surrounded by her adoring kin and the many and varied forest creatures, learning how to help the plants and flowers to grow, and to heal, and how to commune with the nature around her, to heal herself when needed, and how to communicate with the creatures that she seemed to have a natural desire to protect.
She learned she could glamour into human form, just like her mother and the rest of her kin, when she was sixteen and has since perfected the skill.
Because she grew up in the woods and forests with her own kind, she's extremely shy around humans, has often been likened to a skittish deer, which, funnily enough, is her natural animal form. When she chooses to shed her human, or full animal form, to reveal her true self, she has deer like features, but also has horns (which female deer dont have), like a Satyr.
She does not have deer-like ears, though, rather, she has human-like ears, which gently round to a subtle soft point, like pixie ears. This is due to her blood being half human, half nature spirit. Her ears do not change when she shifts into her human form, and when people mention them she always tells them that the 'deformity' is a birth defect.
In her clan, children of the naturals do not have names. Instead, they're each assigned a specific sound, which they would recognise if called out. When she was sixteen, in a coming of age rite, that all her kin took at the same age, she was given the name, Ngen-kulliñ, meaning 'Owners of the animals'. ((https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ngen))
Each child is given the name, during the rite, that fits them the most, and for the girl, her love of the creatures she spent most of her days with, told it's own story.
Shortly after, when her shapehifting powers manifested, and she glamoured into human form for the first time, she gave her human form the name of Chloe, adding Jackson as her last name.
As Chloe, she is vegan, and wildly passionate about conservation, and protecting all of nature, especially animal-life.
She has some healing powers, which only work when she fully concentrates upon a sick, or injured person, animal or plant. Using these powers leave her feeling tired and weak for a few days. She cannot heal herself of injury or illness but does heal slightly faster if she is close to nature, in the forests, or surrounded by her nature kin.
Her personality most of the time is covered by extreme shyness. She can be pretty quiet and reserved at times, but also very curious about the human-world that she was shut out of, growing up, which has sometimes gotten her into trouble with the other nature folk.
She rarely loses her temper, and is in the main, calm. But if she witnesses any form of animal cruelty, harm to her home (the forests), or injustice to those weaker than their attackers, then she can have an explosive and vengeful temper.
Despite that, though, she has an inherently kind heart, and always tries to make sure that those around her happy and cared for.
She comes to Wailing Rock because after her home, in Colorado is destroyed by a wildfire. She was in her glamored human form, moving through the local town as she likes to do quite often, studying the humans in her curious way, when the fire started.
The first she knew of it was when she heard the screams of her kin-folk, which aren't always distinguishable from the sounds of nature, to humans. She ran towards the forest, but the fire was spreading too quickly, and one of the firefighters trying to put the blaze out grabbed her and pulled her back, despite her struggles.
She was the only one left, when the fire was eventually put out. Seeking beautiful, silent forests again, she comes to Wailing Rock, which is far away enough from her home that she can forget her loss. But she can never forget. Even if she tries.
