These are all things commonly believed to be extinct, or mere fairy-tales. For the Sanada
Clan hailing from Osaka, Japan, they are anything but.
Many centuries ago, in a village that would eventually become engulfed by urban sprawl, a simple farmer and his wife were suddenly set upon by terrible night terrors.
Turning to the Sanada Clan, who were the ruling group at the time, an investigation brought
them to the conclusion that they were being preyed upon by yōkai. As ancient customs passed down were brought back into the forefront, a new blade was forged, pressed from the finest cold iron and inscribed with intricate runes.
A singular warrior, the strongest and eldest able son, was given the sword, and it became his task to slay the beast and act as protector.
As the years continued to pass, the Sanadas continued the tradition. Every time a wayward demon was suspected in the local area, the eldest son would take up the legendary katana and hunt the creature. As time progressed, customs changed, but the family kept up the fight. Common knowledge became myth, and the masquerade took over.
Still, the Sanada family continue to be hunters. Semi-famed, in private circles. The blade now lies in the possession of one William Sanada, who finds himself in Wailing Rock on the trail of a depraved demon. Of course, rumours of the town are that it houses many more than just one such beast...
